Hakan Öniz

Underwater Archaeologist

Associate Professor Dr. Hakan Oniz is graduated from the Department of Art History and Archaeology of EMU and done his master’s and Ph.D. in Underwater Archaeology at the Selcuk University of Konya-Turkey. He is one of the founders and first coordinator of UNESCO UniTwin Underwater Archaeology Network between 2012 and 2015. He is the head of the Underwater Cultural Heritage Division in MCR Institute of Akdeniz University. He is also managing several Underwater Archaeology projects in the Turkish Mediterranean Coast; Secretary and bureau member of ICOMOS-ICUCH (International Committee of Underwater Cultural Heritage); specialist member of ICOMOS Turkey, member of CMAS Scientific Committee.
