Mikko Huhtamies

Mikko Huhtamies is a docent of Nordic history at the University of Helsinki. In his research, he has dealt with the Viapori fortress, the Archipelago fleet, cartography, and ancient seafaring, especially shipwrecks and rescue operations in cooperation with the Finnish Museum Agency and maritime archaeologists.

Mikko´s expertices are:
Maritime history, shipwrecks and salvage 1400-1800, Gulf of Finland, history of technology and innovations, Baltic Mediterranean connections 1500-1800, early modern military history, history of cartography.
