MaritimEA is a grant funded research organisation with expertise in cultural heritage management, maritime archaeology, intangible cultural heritage documentation, ecological surveys, marine protected area management, conservation management, tourism and visitor management, community engagement, and blue economy master-planning. MaritimEA provides the capabilities necessary to undertake studies of maritime environments that require highly specialised technical and professional skills at every stage of research and on-ground investigations in terrestrial and underwater contexts. This includes the specialised skills required for historical research, geospatial analysis, advanced site documentation, in situ preservation, conservation, and interpretation for a diverse set of research and general public audiences. MaritimEA works actively with local fishing communities to promote community driven approaches towards improved environmental, social and economic outcomes.

MaritimEA is undertaking a project titled “The Digital Heritage Trails Project” (DHTP). The project involves the documentation of endangered archaeological sites in the Indus Delta region, including Banbhore, Ratukot, Jam Jaskar Goth, Ranokot, and Lahiri Bandar. DHTP has developed high-precision 3D representations, or "digital copies", of these sites to support effective site management, heritage conservation efforts, and climate impact mitigation. The project has also created a digital heritage trail called the “Lost Cities of the Indus Delta”. The heritage trail is an exciting and innovative explorative experience, curated to provide a general public audience with an online, interactive, and immersive experience, while exploring the rich history of the Indus Delta region. MaritimEA is joined by partner organisations, Kaspar Consulting and Apparatus/Chrononaut, in developing the project with the generous support of the Cultural Protection Fund, British Council and the UK Department of Culture, Media & Sport. MaritimEA is undertaking the Pakistan Shipwreck Archive Project to develop an archive of known historical shipwrecks in Pakistani waters. A first step towards building this archive is the "Wrecks and Records: Building Pakistan's Maritime Past" initiative, bringing together International researchers to investigate existing archives about historical shipwrecks along Pakistan’s coastline. The initiative is being undertaken in partnership with the Nautical Archaeology Society (NAS), is supported by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and follows another recently announced collaboration between the organisations to provide capacity building workshops in the UK and Pakistan. The project seeks to address a critical gap in maritime archaeology in Pakistan, where despite a rich seafaring history, underwater cultural heritage remains understudied. By cross-referencing Lloyd’s Register archives with regional records, such as the Sindh and Bombay Gazettes, and a range of UK based India Office Records, the team will seek to create the first comprehensive reference database of wrecks in Pakistani waters from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
